Introduction: Welcome to the BodytoLove Blog!

Hello Friends,

Happy New Year! I am excited to start my journey as a blogger. My blog serves as an outlet for discussion and sharing of knowledge regarding the topic of body image. This blog also serves as a supportive place for women who are experiencing challenges with body image and/or eating disorders. My decision to start this blog was influenced by my mentors. My mentor in my counseling program, Dr. Sara Pula, encouraged me to share my experiences with body image and an eating disorder to promote positive body image in girls and women. I was inspired to focus my research proposal on Nigerian American women after learning of my mentor’s research on the body image experiences of Asian and Latina women. In addition, my mentor in my mentorship program, Dr. Harriette Richard, also encouraged me to start a blog. I was moved by her own blog on body image and the recovery process for women experiencing breast cancer.  I have developed a passion for exploring the body image experiences of women and learning how cultural identity influences body image. Furthermore, I would like to gain a better understanding of body image as it relates to mental health and wellness. I welcome you in exploring the topic of body image with me! Your comments and feedback are welcome!

Sincerely,

Seun Aina
